The last few times we went to Light Bistro were for lunch. They have extended lunch hours on Saturday and this fits our weekend schedule nicely. Saturday we went to Koko’s Bakery (See 2-21-2011 post) for breakfast, and then ran around later then normal. Dinner time had arrived. We had hoped to slip into Sokolowski’s (11-27-2010 posting) for some gut-busting ethnic food, but the line was WAY out the door. Dinner would be at least 75 minutes away, so Plan B went into action. Where to go? Where to go? We thought of all the usual suspect in the Tremont, Ohio City area. Too late for Lucky’s, no reservations for Lolita’s or Dante’s, didn’t “feel” like Lagos or Lincoln Park Bistro. Then Light Bistro came to us almost simultaneously.
The dinner menu is much broader then lunch. They offer a number of salads, paninis, pizza, large and small tapas and main course plates. Perfect. Koko’s kept us filled and we didn’t want a full meal, especially if it wasn’t served chow-line style!
Michele had the grouper with pulled pork topping and ricotta ravioli in a rich ham broth. Jeff ordered two tapas, creamy polenta with heirloom mushrooms and roasted onions and southern fried quail over potato cake with country gravy. Wow! After a disappointing meal at Washington Place (Little Italy) the previous night, it was nice to pop into a place for a quick meal and get blow away!
We’re not sure how many people know about this place. Because of our odd eating hours, it is never full, but it remains open. Like so many “famous places, we want this place to be the next “hot spot”. The food is inventive (who else would drape pork over fish?) well prepared (a second too long and the tiny quail would have been a confit cracker) with a friendly staff. Is more needed?
Tell your friends! Write your congressman! Get the Nobel committee involved! Light Bistro is making some great food in Cleveland.
