Tour de Bruell 2011 & 2012

It’s time again! Summer brings many things and in Cleveland, among them is the Tour de Bruell. On Memorial Day, the 2012 Tour starts! Simply visit all five of Chef Bruell’s restaurants and you’ve earned a commemorative tee-shirt. Your name will then be placed in a drawing for the grand price, a dinner for eight personally prepared by Chef Bruell.

We were lucky enough to be one of the finalists in last year’s “Tour” and a few weeks ago, spent a fabulous evening as “backstage guests” of Chef Thomas Schrenk at Table 45, one of Michele’s favorite places. We sampled LOTS of sushi prepared by Chef Eugene while he explained the preparation and fish selection process. We then got a peek in the back of the ultra-clean and orderly Table 45 kitchen. We sat at the Chef’s Table and sampled wonderful scallops with polenta, an inventive Pad Tai, Mushroom Salad and a Banana’s Foster like no other. Between courses, the Chef talked about his life in food and how a restaurant runs, providing tidbits of advice on produce selection and meat suppliers. We asked tons of questions and he was more than gracious with answers. It was a great evening.

This year, we’re ready! We are, without question going to complete the tour. As you may have noted from past posts, the winner’s dinner was a wonderful treat and we had a great time. We are hoping for a win again! Regardless, the real reason to complete the tour is the wonderful collection of excellent foods prepared by Chef Bruell and his staff at Parallax, Chinato, L’Albatros, Table 45 and Cowell & Hubbard. If eating at this talented Chef’s restaurants is not enough, the contest bonus must surely be enough to convince everyone to partake. It is going to be a long, hot summer. Why not enjoy it more with food from Chef Bruell? Could you ask for more?
