About

Jeff and Michele live in Cleveland Heights. Jeff cooks twice a week and occasionally bakes, cans and makes preserves. Michele also cooks twice a week, specializing in home-style (she says, “Betty Crocker”) preparations. The rest of the time, we rely on restaurants to keep us fed.

Over the years, we have racked up countless hours in Cleveland area restaurants. Friends often call us for recommendations and we have kept an Excel spreadsheet of our favorites that often gets distributed. When we heard a friend took an out-of-towner to Applebee’s because they could not get in contact with us, we knew we needed to find a way to share our experiences and our list of good restaurants, even when we were ourselves dining.

Michele and Jeff split a menu in half. Michele tends to gravitate to fish, lighter meals and chocolate dessert. Jeff wants to experiment and is more likely to choose veal, rabbit, duck, pasta and desserts that are, “not chocolate.” Because we both cook a lot of chicken and pork at home, these are less popular restaurant selections, but not out of the question. Neither of us is a big beef fan, although Jeff does enjoy it occasionally. We always pass forkfuls across the table. Dessert is (almost) always shared, so you can imagine how nearly 30 years of marital compromise comes into play with our after-dinner selection. Michele typically accompanies a meal with hot tea, Jeff like a glass of wine (or two!) As you can see, we span the menu from cover to cover.

Please enjoy our comments. We hope they help you find a great Cleveland restaurant. Perhaps this blog space will make it easier. If it goes well for us, you may look forward to jeff and michele eat New Orleans, (see NOLA page) our second favorite food city!

Thanks for visiting!

Thanks for sharing your reviews. I’ve already decided that I need to go to Corstatas immediately.
I’ve added JAMEC to my favorites.

Just had a very disappointing visit to Bistro 185. Marinara sauce on mussels was overwhelming–thick, over garlicked. Green salad–ordinary. Halibut overcooked. Rack of lamb more fat than meat. Nice orzo, though. We have the clevelandindependents deck of cards which is fun. Had a GREAT meal at SASA.

We have not been to 185 for a while. We’ll need to check it out again soon. Thanks! J&M
